Encouragement for October

Fall. Well, at least on the calendar it says we are in fall…this Texas weather takes a while for Fall to really appear! There are many things I love about Fall. Cooler Weather. College Football. Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin Candles. I love all the Fall things! But what Fall reminds us of is that harvest and growth take time. Harvest represents the fruit of what has been planted and cultivated. This is true in nature but even more so in our own lives. Jesus explains this truth when He says:

“My Father is glorified by this: that you produce much fruit and prove to be my disciples.” –John 15:8

In this same chapter, Jesus lets them know that fruit happens when we stay connected to the True Vine and allow Him to continue to work in and through us! We are reminded that in all seasons He is working in us. God is always at work beneath the surface, and when we remain faithful, then fruit will be the result. Fruit always takes time to develop and grow. So, as you sip your Pumpkin Spiced Latte, ask yourself what has God been growing in you over this past year? Where have you seen Him bring good fruit to the surface? Thank Him that He is your good God who loves to cultivate and bring a ripe harvest in and through you!
