Humble Leaders (5:1-4)
Biblically, an elder is a spiritually mature man who has been set apart by the Holy Spirit and the local church to
work with other elders to follow Jesus’ leadership in shepherding, discipling, guarding, and expanding His
church.
How do Christian leaders stay humble?
1- We remember that the church belongs to God, not to us.
2- We pursue a Christlike attitude and motivation:
NOT because you have to, because you get to.
NOT to get rich, but to receive eternal treasure.
NOT to get your way, but to set an example.
We lead like Christ when we are humble in our hearts, minds, and attitudes.
Humble Christians (5:5-14)
Humility is thinking about God first, others second, and yourself third.
Five behaviors of humble Christians:
1- They submit to spiritual authority.
2- They cast their cares on God.
3- They resist the devil.
4- They stand in solidarity with all the saints.
5- They trust God to finish the work.
