For Spencer, growing up as a young child in San Antonio, church attendance was sporadic and more about ceremony than a personal relationship with Jesus. As a young teenager, Spencer saw God transform his mother into a new person as she experienced the life changing reality of Jesus Christ. Shortly after that, he also became a believer and was saved by God’s grace.
Spencer graduated from the University of Texas with a mechanical engineering degree. Teresa grew up in East Texas and graduated from Stephen F. Austin with a social work degree. Teresa was saved as a young child but rededicated her life to Christ when she moved to Austin in 1996. They met in 1997, and they have been married for 16 years. They have two children, Seth & Kailey who committed their lives to Christ at a young age.
Spencer & Teresa began attending Cityview Bible Church in March 2010, and quickly felt called to serve God at the church. Spencer began serving on the facility set up team, while Teresa served on the worship team. Spencer and Teresa have enjoyed shepherding a small group and currently serve in Student Ministry. Spencer also had the privilege of serving on the deacon team.
Spencer has worked at Applied Materials for 20 years, currently he leads a team of engineers that design and manufacture semiconductor equipment. Teresa has spent much of her married life as a stay at home mom. She recently obtained her realtors license and for the last 1.5 years has enjoyed helping others find a home. Spencer loves hunting, fishing and just about all sporting activities. Together they enjoy movies, exercise, Spurs basketball, and spending family time together.
In their time at Cityview, Spencer and Teresa have had great opportunities to grow in faith and in relationship with Jesus. They appreciate how the church has challenged them to step up and live out what God teaches through His Word. It is an honor and they are extremely excited for this opportunity to serve God and this church community during a very exciting time for Cityview Bible Church. Spencer is looking forward to how God will continually stretch him and his family during this time, showing him even more how he needs to be dependent on his awesome Savior.
